CAUSE NO. 96

ORDER NO. 96-2

REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on January 28, 1958, at 10 a.m., in the Game Room of the Albany Hotel, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of Hearing as required by law, on the application of the Cabeen Exploration Corporation for an order amending the provisions of Order No. 96-1 by reducing the drilling and spacing units from forty acres to a spacing pattern which would allow wells to be located not less than 200 feet from any property line or lease line, and not less than 300 feet from any other producible oil and gas well, or drilling well, in the Dakota-Lakota formation of the Canadian River Field; and approving a pressure maintenance program through gas injection.

FINDINGS

The Commission finds as follows:

1.      That due notice of the time, place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law.

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

3.      That on November 5, 1956, the Commission issued its Order No. from any other producible or drilling well in the same source of supply,

4.      That based on testimony presented at the hearing, and on all geological and engineering data presently available, it appears that applicant's request for reduction of drilling and spacing units from forty acres to a spacing pattern which would allow wells to be located not less than 200 feet from any property line or lease line, and not less than 300 feet from any other producible oil or gas well, or drilling well, in the Dakota-Lakota reservoir, common source of supply, is justifiable and reasonable and should be allowed.

5.      That production of gas from the gas cap of said reservoir would allow oil to move up-structure into the gas reservoir, thus reducing the ultimate oil recovery, and that pressure maintenance by gas injection would tend to keep the gas-oil interface from working into the gas section of said Dakota-Lakota reservoir.

6.      That the pressure maintenance program by gas injection into the Dakota-Lakota formation underlying the Canadian River Field, as presented by the applicant, would increase the ultimate recovery of oil from said Canadian River Field, and should therefore be approved as being in the public interest for conservation.

ORDER

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, that the application of the Cabeen Exploration Corporation is hereby granted., and the drilling and spacing units in the Canadian River Field, as defined in Order No. 96-1, are hereby reduced from forty acres to a spacing pattern which will allow wells to be located not less than Two Hundred (200) feet from any property line or lease line, and, not less than Three Hundred (300) feet from any other producible oil or gas well, or drilling well, in the Dakota-Lakota reservoir, common source of supply.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the pressure maintenance program by the injection of gas into the Dakota-Lakota formation of the Canadian River Field is here by approved, and Applicant is authorized to inject gas into said formation through, an injection well, the Blevins A-2, in such quantities as shall be reasonable determined by Applicant to best achieve the maximum recovery of oil without waste of oil and gas.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the Commission expressly reserves its right, after notice and hearing, to alter, amend or repeal any and/or all of the above orders,

ORDERED this 28th day of January, 1958.
