CAUSE NO. 70

ORDER NO. 70-2

REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on June 17, 1958, at 10 a.m., in Room 330, State Office Building, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of Hearing as required by law, on the Commission's own motion to consider the limits of the Zorichak Field (formerly Pinneo, Pinneo-North, and Pinneo Southwest); and upon the recommendation of Mr. Russell H. Volk to change the name of the Pinneo area to the Zorichak Field in honor of Mr. Joseph John Zorichak, and to make public the following resolution:

"BE IT RESOLVED, by The Oil and Gas Conservation Commission of The State of Colorado; that

"WHEREAS, the people of the State of Colorado, and more especially, The Oil and Gas Conservation Commission of the State of Colorado, have suffered the loss of a noble public servant who devoted himself to the service of the people of the State, the untimely passing and great achievements of Joseph John Zorichak should be marked large in the public record so that all may note and remember a man who gave himself to the service of Colorado, its present citizens, and to generations yet unborn.

Joseph John Zorichak died August 6, 1953, at the age of fifty-four, leaving a wife, two sons and two daughters.  At the time of his death he was Director of The Oil and Gas Conservation Commission of the State of Colorado.  He was in a great measure responsible for the early success of oil and gas conservation in Colorado.  He was one of the pioneers in his field.  Others may follow where he led.

"He was best known in the oil and gas industry perhaps for his work and study in the Rangely Field, where he was the first Chairman of the Rangely Engineering Committee.  His basic plan is now to be utilized to conserve the oil and gas of this great field.

"His loss is deeply felt by his family, people of Colorado, and the members of the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission of the State of Colorado.

"NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this resolution be spread upon the records of The Oil and Gas Conservation Commission of the State of Colorado, where it may serve as a memorial to Joseph John Zorichak, and that a copy be presented to Mrs. Zorichak and the family of our late good friend and associate, to speak in some small measure our sympathy in our mutual loss.

"Dated August 10, 1953."

FINDINGS

The Commission finds as follows:

1.      That due notice of the time, place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law.

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

3.      That on July 13, 1955, the Commission issued its Order No. 70-1 in Cause No. 70, establishing drilling and spacing units for the production of oil and gas from the "D" sand, and defining the area.

4.      That subsequent development reveals that the field limits should be re-defined by deleting the North Half (N½) of Section Three (3), and the North Half (N½) of Section Four (4), and adding the East Half (E½) of Section Twenty (20), all of Section Twenty-one (21) and Section Twenty-two (22), Township Two (2) North, Range Fifty-five (55) West of the 8th P.M., Morgan County, Colorado.

ORDER

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, that the Zorichak Field is hereby defined as follows:

South Half (S½) of Section Three (3), South Half (S½) of Section Four (4); all of Sections Nine (9), Ten (10), Fifteen (15), Sixteen (16); East Half (E½) of Section Twenty (20); all of Sections Twenty-one (21) and Twenty-two (22), Township Two (2) North, Range Fifty-five (55) West of the 6th P.M., Morgan. County, Colorado.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the Commission expressly reserves its right, after notice and hearing, to alter, amend, or repeal any and/or all of the above order.

ORDERED this 7th day of July, 1958.
