CAUSE NO. 65

ORDER NO. 65-9

REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on May 20, 1969, at 10 a.m., in Conference Room 260, Columbine Building, 1845 Sherman Street, Denver Colorado, and was further continued for hearing on August 19, 1969, on the Commission's own motion, in order for all operators in the Atwood-East field, to show cause, if any they have, why the present method of disposal of oil field waste liquids in said field should not be discontinued and a different method of disposal instituted that will protect the usable waters of the State.

FINDINGS

The Commission finds as follows:

1.      That due notice of the time place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law.

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

3.      That testimony presented at the hearings indicates that oil field waste liquids have been running into the South Platte River and that in order to prevent possible water pollution, operators in the field should contain such waste liquids in pits and desist from discharging into the South Platte River.

ORDER

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED that all operators in the Atwood-East Field, Logan County, Colorado, desist from discharging oil field waste liquids into the South Platte River and contain said liquids in suitable pits.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the Commission expressly reserves its right after notice and hearing, to alter, amend or repeal the above order.

ORDERED this 19th day of August 1969.
