CAUSE NO. 56

ORDER NO. 56-5

REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on February 23, 1960, at 10:00 A.M., in the Game Room of the Albany Hotel, Denver, Colorado after publication of Notice of Hearing as required by law, on the joint application of the Monsanto Chemical Company and the Amerada Petroleum Corporation requesting permission to commingle production from the Greenhorn and "D" sand formations in the Amerada-Mary Farnik No. 2 well

FINDINGS

The Commission finds as follows:

1.      That due notice of the time, place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law.

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

3.      That the Monsanto Chemical Company is the Unit Operator of the Jackpot "D" Sand Unit Area, in the Jackpot Field, Morgan and Weld Counties, Colorado; and that the Amerada Petroleum Corporation is the owner and operator of the oil and gas lease covering, among other lands, the SW¼ NW¼ of Section 1, Township 6 North, Range 59 West, 6th P.M.; Morgan County, Colorado; and that the Amerada-Mary Farnik #2 well is located in said forty-acre tract.

4.      That said well was initially completed in the "D" sand formation, with perforations in the interval between the depths of 6494 feet and 6501 feet; and that said well was initially productive from the "D" sand formation, but declined in productivity and was plugged back and completed as a producing well in the Greenhorn formation; that a bridge plug was set at a depth of 6400 feet, and perforations were made in the interval between depths of 6300 feet and 6350 feet; that said well is now capable of producing from the "D" sand formation and the Greenhorn formation, and that quantities of such production will not justify single zone completions.

5.      That all available geological and engineering data concerning the said Amerada-Mary Farnik No. 2 well indicate that said well can be dually completed by removing the presently existing retrievable bridge plug separating the "D" sand formation and the Greenhorn formation, and recompleting said well in both formations, with the production commingled in the well bore.

6.      That the granting of Applicants request, and the completion and production of said well in the manner hereinabove described, will not result in waste, and that no damage will result to either formation because of such dual completion and commingling.

ORDER

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, that applicants, the Monsanto Chemical Company and the Amerada Petroleum Corporation, are hereby granted authority to dually complete the Amerada-Mary Farnik No. 2 well located in the center of the Southwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter (C SW¼ NW¼) of Section One (1), Township Six (6) North, Range Fifty-nine (59) West, 6th P.M., Morgan County, Colorado, in the "D" sand and Greenhorn formations by the removal of the presently existing retrievable bridge plug separating said formations and recompleting said well in both formations, and to commingle the production in the well bore.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the Commission expressly reserves its right, after notice and hearing, to alter, amend, or repeal the above order.

ORDERED the is 23rd day of February 1960.
