CAUSE NO. 56

ORDER NO. 56-4

REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on February 23, 1960, at 10:00 a.m., in the Game Room of the Albany Hotel, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of Hearing as required by law, on the application of the Monsanto Chemical Company, as Operator of the Jackpot Field "D" Sand Unit, for an order permitting applicant to continue pressure maintenance operations in the "D"' sand reservoir of the Jackpot Field by conversion of the Monsanto-Deuter No. 1 well, located in the center of the SEžSEž of Section 27, Township 7 North, Range 59 West, 6th P.M., Weld County, Colorado, to a water injection well; and by the drilling and completion of an additional water injection well to be located in the N―SEž of Section 35 in said township and range.

FINDINGS

The Commission finds as follows:

1.      That due notice of the time, place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law.

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

3.      That pressure maintenance operations in the Jackpot Field "D" Sand Unit should be expanded in order to increase the ultimate recovery of oil and gas in said field, and that the conversion of the Monsanto-Deuter No. 1 well, located in the Center of the SEžSEž of Section 27, Township 7 North, Range 59 West, 6th P.M., Weld County, Colorado, to a water injection well; and the drilling and completion of an additional water injection well in the "D" sand of the Jackpot Field, to be located in the N―SEž of Section 35 in said township and range, no closer than 330 feet from the boundary of the Unit Area, are essential for such purposes.

4.      That the locations of said wells are in the Unit Area, as defined in Order No. 56-3; and that pressure maintenance by injection of water in such wells, according to the expert testimony presented, will not adversely affect the correlative rights of any owner outside of said Unit Area.

5.      That the use and operation of said wells as water injection wells will increase the ultimate recovery of oil and gas from said "D" sand reservoir, and prevent waste.

ORDER

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, that the Monsanto Chemical Company is hereby permitted and authorized to convert the Monsanto-Deuter No. 1 well, located in the Center of the Southeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter (C SEžSEž) of Section Twenty-seven (27), Township Seven (7) North, Range Fifty-nine (59) West of the 6th P.M., Weld County, Colorado, to a water injection well; and to drill and complete a water injection well in the "D" sand of the Jackpot Field, to be located in the North Half of the Southeast Quarter (N―SEž) of Section Thirty-five (35), Township Seven (7) North, Range Fifty-nine (59) West, 6th P.M., Weld County, Colorado, no closer than Three Hundred Thirty (330) feet from the boundary of the Jackpot Unit Area.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the Commission expressly reserves its right, after notice and hearing, to alter, amend or repeal the above order.

ORDERED this 9th day of March 1960.
