CAUSE NO. 53

ORDER NO. 53-4

REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on August 18, 1959, at 10:00 a.m., in the Game Room of the Albany Hotel, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of Hearing as required by law, on the application of the Monsanto Chemical Company, as Unit Operator for an order granting permission to convert the Mid-America Downing No, 1 well (also known as the Little Beaver East W-5) as an ad-additional water injection well for use in connection with Applicant's water injection method of pressure maintenance in the Unit Area heretofore approved by the Commission in its Order No, 53-3, dated April 22, 1958.

FINDINGS

The Commission finds as follows:

1.      That due notice of the time, place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law, and that all prerequisites to the granting hereof have been performed.

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

3.      That pressure maintenance operations in the Little Beaver-East Unit Area should be continued to completion in order to minimize waste of oil and gas in said field, and that the conversion of the Mid-America Downing No. 1 well to a water injection well is essential for such purposes.

4. That said well is located on the Unit within one mile of certain tracts outside the Unit, but that, according to geological and engineering information available, pressure maintenance by injection of water in said well will not adversely affect the correlative rights of any owner outside of said Unit.

5.      That the use and operation of said well as a water injection well will increase the ultimate recovery of oil and gas from the "D" sand formation of the Little Beaver-East Field and prevent waste.

ORDER

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, that the Monsanto Chemical Company, as Operator of the Little Beaver-East "D" Sand Unit Area, is hereby permitted and authorized to convert to a water injection well the Mid-America Downing No. 1 well, located in the SE¼ SE¼ SW¼ of Section 34, Township 1 South, Range 56 West of the 6th P.M., Washington County, Colorado.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the Commission expressly reserves its right, after notice and hearing, to alter, amend or repeal any and/or all of the above order.

ORDERED this 18th day of August, 1959.
