CAUSE NO. 4

ORDER NO. 4-2

REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

This cause came on for bearing before the Commission on May 22, 1962, at 10 A.M., in Room 320E, State Capitol, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of Hearing as required by law, and mailing of copies of the application pursuant to regulations of the Commission, on the application of J.G. Dyer for an order approving a certain Unit Agreement attached to said application as Exhibit “D”; and further approving a proposed water injection project for the “D” sand underlying the Greasewood Unit Area defined in said Unit Agreement. Also, the Commission, on its own motion, considered possible deletion of portions of the Greasewood Field, and addition of certain lands to said field.

FINDINGS

The Commission finds as follows:

1.      That due notice of the time, place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law.

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

3.      That on January 23, 1952, the Commission issued its Order No. 4-1, establishing 40-acre drilling units for the production of oil and gas from the "D" sand formation, common source of supply, and defining the area to be known as the Greasewood Field.

4.      That subsequent development reveals that certain changes in the field limits of said Greasewood Field should be made as follows:

Area to be deleted

Morgan County

Township 6 North, Range 60 West, 6th P.M.

Section 6:     W½

Section 7:     W½

Township 7 North, Range 60 West, 6th P.M.

Section 31:   S½ SW¼

Weld County

Township 6 North, Range 61 West, 6th P.M.

Section 1:    All

Section 2:    E½, E½ W½

Section 11:  W½ E½, E½ W½

Section 12:  E½ E½

Township 7 North, Range 61 West, 6th P.M.

Section 35:   S½ SE¼, SE¼ SW¼

Section 36:   S½ S½

Area to be added

Weld County

Township 6 North, Range 61 West, 6th P.M.

Section 13:  NW¼ NW¼

Section 14:  NE¼

5.      That the Unit Agreement presented by applicant, as Unit Operator, is necessary to increase the ultimate recovery of oil from the “D” sand formation, common source of supply of oil and gas underlying the Unit area set forth in said Unit Agreement, and should therefore be approved as being in the public interest for conservation.  Said Unit Area is composed of the following described lands in Weld County, Colorado, to-wit:

Unit Area

Township 6 North, Range 61 West, 6th P.M.

Section 11:   E½ E½

Section 12:   W½, W½ E½

Section 13:   NW¼ NW¼

Section 14:   NE¼

6.      That Applicant’s proposed plan for injection of water into the “D” sand formation underlying the Greasewood Unit Area will increase the ultimate recovery of oil from said Unit Area, and should therefore be approved as being in the public interest for conservation.

7.      That avoidable waste of oil and gas will be prevented by the operations proposed by Applicant, and the correlative rights of all parties in the Greasewood Unit Area, as herein defined, will not be adversely affected and will be reasonably protected under such a plan of operations; and that in the interest of securing the greatest ultimate recovery of oil from said formation, the prevention of waste and protection of correlative rights, this application should be granted.

ORDER

IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED, that the following rules and regulations shall apply hereafter to the lands set forth in this order, in addition to other applicable rules and regulations and orders of the Commission, if any, heretofore adopted and not in conflict herewith:

Rule 1.    No well shall be drilled or completed or recompleted, and no notice of intention to drill, or drilling permits, shall be approved in the Greasewood Sandstone Pool in the Greasewood Field, Weld and Morgan counties, Colorado, as hereinabove defined, unless:

Township 6 North, Range 61 West, 6th P.M.

Section 11:   E½ E½

Section 12:   W½, W½ E½

Section 13:   NW¼ NW¼

Section 14:   NE¼

Rule 2.    The Unit Agreement presented by Applicant, covering the Greasewood Unit Area herein defined, and providing for unit operations of the “D” sand underlying said Unit Area, is hereby approved.

Rule 3.    The plan for injection of water into the “D” sand formation underlying the Greasewood Unit Area, as set forth in Applicant’s Unit Agreement, is hereby approved, and the operator is authorized to inject water into said reservoir through injection wells in such quantities as shall be reasonably determined by the operator to best achieve the maximum recover of oil without waste.

Rule 4.    In the event that it becomes necessary in the future to convert additional producing wells to input wells; to plug and abandon certain wells in the Unit Area, or to drill additional producing or input wells as dictated by developments in the course of the operation of the water injection program, the Unit Operator is authorized to make such changes in the operation of the program as may be required to facilitate the efficient development thereof, subject to the approval of the director of the Commission.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the Commission expressly reserves its right, after notice and hearing, to alter, amend or repeal any and/or all of the above orders, rules and regulations.

ORDERED this 22nd day of May 1962.
