ORDER NO. 23-4

 

REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

 

This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on June 26, 1962, at 10 a.m., in Room 320E, State Capitol, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of Hearing has required by law, and the mailing of copies of the application, pursuant to the regulations of this Commission, on the application of The British-American Oil Producing Company, as Unit Operator, for an order amending Order No. 23-2 and Order No. 23-3 in Cause No. 23, by authorizing Applicant to convert to water injection wells the U.P.R.R. No. 3 well, located in the approximate center of the NE¼ NW¼ of Section 13; and the Gaylord No. 1 well, located in the approximate center of the SW¼ NE¼ of Section 13, Township 11 North, Range 53 West; and the Nelson No. 2 well, located in the approximate center of the SW¼ NW¼ of Section 18, Township 11 North, Range 52 West; and to inject water therein in the upper part of the "J" Sand; and to permit a change in the injection zones in any of the injection wells upon written notice by Applicant, and written approval thereto by the Director of the Commission

 

FINDINGS

 

The Commission finds as follows:

 

1.      That due notice of the time, place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law and by the regulations of this Commission.

 

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

 

3.      That the Commission has previously issued Orders No., 23-2 and No., 23-3, wherein it approved a Unitization Agreement for the "J" Sand reservoir Unit Area; Lewis Creek Field, Logan County, Colorado, which provided for the unit development and operation of the "J" Sand reservoir underlying the following described lands in Logan County, Colorado, to-wit:

 

Township 11 North, Range 52 West, 6th P.M.

 

 

              Section 7:

S½ NW¼, SW¼

              Section 18:

NW¼, N½ SW¼

 

Township 11 North, Range 53 West, 6th P.M.

 

 

              Section 12:

S½ N½, S½

              Section 13:

N½, N½ S½

              Section 14:

NE¼ NE¼ NE¼

 

and approved and authorized thereunder repressuring water flood operations and a secondary recovery program by the injection of water into the "J" sand in the Lewis Creek Field in certain wells at certain locations within said Unit Area, and the injection of water therein at particular intervals in said wells below the oil-water con-tact point therein.

 

4.      That the authorized plan of operations for the Lewis Creek "J" Sand Unit Area should be continued to completion in order to increase the ultimate recovery of oil in said field; and that Rule 3 of Order No. 23-2, as amended by Order No., 23-3, should be further amended to read as follows:

 

“Rule 3.  The Unit Operator of the Lewis Creek "J" Sand Unit is hereby authorized to inject water into any zone of the "J" Sand in such quantities and through such wells as shall reasonably be determined by said operator to best achieve the maximum recovery of oil, such operations to be subject to the approval of the Director of the Commission."

 

ORDER

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, that Rule 3 of Order No. 23-2, as amended by Order No. 23-3, is hereby further amended to read as follows:

 

"Rule 3.  The Unit Operator of the Lewis Creek "J" sand Unit is hereby Authorized to inject water into any zone of the "J" Sand in such quantities and through such wells as shall reasonably be determined by said operator to best achieve the maximum recovery of oil such operations to be subject to the approval of the Director of the Commission,"

 

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the Commission expressly reserves its right, upon notice and hearing, to alter, amend, or repeal any and/or all of the above order.
