CAUSE NO. 21

ORDER NO. 21-8

REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on January 26, 1960, at 10:00 a.m., in the Game Room of the Albany Hotel, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of Hearing as required by law, on the application of the Sinclair Oil and Gas Company for an order permitting Applicant to continue pressure maintenance operations in the "D" sand reservoir of the Badger Creek Field by converting the producing well Causey "D" Sand Unit No, 17 to a water injection well, and by drilling and completing a water injection well in the "D" sand of the Badger Creek Field, approximately 2615 feet from the north line and 1600 feet from the east line of Section 27, Township 2 South, Range 57 West, 6th P.M., Adams County, Colorado.

FINDINGS

The Commission finds as follows:

1.      That due notice of the time, place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law.

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

3.      That pressure maintenance operations in the Badger Creek Unit Area should be continued to completion in order to minimize waste of oil and gas in said field, and that the conversion of the producing well Causey "D" Sand Unit No. 17, located 330 feet from the south line and 330 feet from the west line of the NE/4 of Section 27, Township 2 South, Range 57 West, 6th P.M., to a water injection well; and the drilling and completion of a water injection well in the "D" sand of the Badger Creek Field, to be located approximately 2615 feet from the north line, and 1600 feet from the east line of said Section 27, is essential for such purposes.

4.      That each of said wells is located on the Unit Area, as defined in Order No. 21-5, within one mile of certain tracts outside the Unit Area, but that pressure maintenance by injection of water in such wells, according to the expert testimony presented, will not adversely affect the correlative rights of any owner outside of said Unit Area.

5. That the use and operation of said wells as water injection wells will increase the ultimate recovery of oil and gas from said pool, and prevent waste.

ORDER

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, that the Sinclair Oil & Gas Company is hereby permitted and authorized to convert the producing well Causey “D” Sand Unit No. 17, located 330 feet from the south line and 330 feet from the west line of the Northeast Quarter (NE¼) of Section Twenty-seven (27), Township Two (2) South, Range Fifty-seven (57) West, 6th P.M., Adams County, Colorado, to a water injection well; and to drill and complete a water injection well in the “D” sand of the Badger Creek Field approximately 2615 feet from the north line, and 1600 feet from the east line of said Section 27, in order to extend pressure maintenance operations in said “D” sand of the Badger Creek Field.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the Commission expressly reserves its right, after notice and hearing, to alter, amend or repeal the above order.

ORDERED this 26th day of January, 1960.
