CAUSE NO. 200

ORDER NO. 200-1

REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on July 19, 1966, at 10 a.m., in Room 132, State Services Building, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of Hearing as required by law, and receipt of appropriate waivers of service thereof, on the application of Sentinel Petroleum Corporation for an order establishing certain drilling units for production of gas from the "J" sand reservoir underlying lands in Logan County, Colorado.

FINDINGS

The Commission finds as follows:

1.      That due notice of the time, place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law.

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

3.      That evidence presented at the hearing indicates that the "J" sand formation constitutes a common source of supply of gas and associated hydrocarbons underlying the following described lands in Logan County, Colorado, to-wit:

Township 8 North, Range 50 West, 6th P.M.

Section 19:

S½NE¼, S½

Section 20:

S½NW¼, SW¼

Section 30:

All

4.      That in order to prevent waste of gas, as defined by law; to protect the correlative rights of all parties concerned; to prevent the drilling of unnecessary wells; and to insure proper and efficient development and promote conservation of the gas resources of the State, an order should be made establishing drilling units as presented by Applicant and described in the following order for the production of gas and associated hydrocarbons from said "J" sand formation underlying the lands as defined herein; and that the permitted gas well for any such drilling unit should be located not less than 660 feet from the boundary thereof, and not less than 1980 feet from any gas well capable of producing in commercial quantities from said pool.

5.      That provision should be made for possible realignment of any such drilling unit which has not had a permitted well drilled thereon when the exact boundaries of said pool become delineated due to development of said "J" sand formation.

6.      That all available geological and engineering data concerning said "J" sand formation indicate that one well will adequately and efficiently drain an area of approximately the size and shape hereinbelow described; and that such drilling units are not smaller than the maximum area that can be efficiently drained by one well producing from said "J" sand formation.

ORDER

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, that the following rules and regulation shall apply to wells heretofore and hereafter drilled and completed or recompleted in the "J" sand formation, as herein defined, in addition to other rules, regulations and orders of the Commission heretofore adopted and not in conflict herewith:

Rule 1.    Drilling units of the size and shape described in Rule 2 hereof shall be, and the same are hereby established for the production of gas and associated hydrocarbons from the "J" sand formation, common source of supply underlying the following described lands in Logan County, Colorado, to-wit:

Township 8 North, Range 50 West, 6th P.M.

Section 19:

S½NE¼, S½

Section 20:

S½NW¼, SW¼

Section 30:

All

and such area shall henceforth be known as the Chuckwagon Field.

Rule 2.    The following drilling units are hereby established for the production of gas and associated hydrocarbons from the "J" sand formation underlying the Chuckwagon Field as defined in Rule 1 hereof:

Unit #1:

Section 19:

S½NE¼, S½

Section 20:

S½NW¼, SW¼

Unit #2:

Section 19:

N½SW¼, S½S½

Section 30:

N½N½

Unit #3:

Section 30:

S½N½, S½

and the permitted gas well for each such unit shall be located not less than 660 feet from the boundary thereof and not less than 1980 feet from any gas well capable of producing in commercial quantities from said formation.

Rule 3.    As the exact boundaries of said "J" sand formation are delineated, any owner may request and shall be allowed to realign certain of those drilling units located on the boundaries of said pool, if a permitted well has not been drilled thereon and with approval of the Director.

IT IS FURTHER. ORDERED, that the rules and regulations contained herein shall become effective forthwith, and henceforth the commencement of the drilling of any well or wells in the "J" sand formation, as defined herein, for the purpose of producing gas and associated hydrocarbons therefrom, at a location other than authorized by this order, is hereby prohibited.

ORDERED this 19th day of July 1966.
