CAUSE NO. 182

ORDER NO. 182-2

REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on June 14, 1966, at 10 a.m., in Room 132, State Services Building, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of Hearing as required by law, and mailing of copies of the application pursuant to regulations of the Commission, on the application of Paul R. Turnbull, Unit Operator of the Winston Field "J" Sand Unit, for an order amending Order No. 182-1 to permit the injection of water into said "J" sand reservoir by use of Unit Well No. 3 and shut down the intake well authorized by Order No. 182-1.  Applicant amended this application as to the location of the proposed injection well.

FINDINGS

The Commission finds as follows:

1.      That due notice of the time, place, and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law.

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

3.      That on September 15, 1964, the Commission issued its Order No. 182-1 which, among other things, approved a plan for secondary recovery of oil and gas from the "J" sand formation underlying the Winston Field "J" Sand Unit Area by the injection of water into an intake well to be drilled in the NE¼NE¼SW¼ of Section 6, Township 10 North, Range 52 West, and that injection of water into this well has been discontinued.

4.      That testimony presented at the hearing indicates that Applicant's plan for injection of water into said "J" sand formation by use of Unit Well No. 3, located in the SW¼NE¼ of Section 6, Township 10 North, Range 52 West 6th P.M., Logan County, Colorado, may increase the ultimate recovery of oil and gas from said "J" sand formation underlying the Winston Field "J" Sand Unit Area, and that it should therefore be approved as being in the public interest for conservation.

5.      That according to geological and engineering testimony presented at the hearing, injection of water into said "J" sand formation by use of Unit Well No. 3 will not adversely affect the correlative rights of any owner outside of the Winston Field "J" Sand Unit Area.

ORDER

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, that the Unit Operator of the Winston Field "J" Sand Unit is hereby permitted and authorized to convert to a water injection well the Unit Well No. 3, located in the SW¼NE¼ of Section 6, Township 10 North, Range 52 West, 6th P.M., Logan County, Colorado.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the provisions contained herein shall become effective forthwith.

ORDERED this 14th day of June 1966.
