CAUSE NO. 173

ORDER NO. 173-1

REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on May 21, 1963, at 10 a.m., in Room 132, State Services Building, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of hearing as required by law, on the application of Texaco, Inc. for an order granting permission and authority to dually complete its Government-Helmke Well No. 2 in the Williams Fork Field, by producing separately and without commingling the Dakota and Shinarump formations.

FINDINGS

The Commission finds as follows:

1.      That due notice of the time, place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law.

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

3.      That Applicant is an owner of leasehold interests and the operator of the discovery well, Government-Helmke No. 1, and desires to be allowed to dually complete its Government-Helmke Well No. 2, located in the SEĽNEĽ of Section 18, Township 5 North, Range 91 West, 6th P.M., in the Williams Fork Field, Moffat County, Colorado.

4.      That in the drilling of said Government-Helmke Well No. 2, the top of the Dakota formation was encountered at a depth of approximately 5780 feet, and the top of the Shinarump formation was encountered at a depth of approximately 7088 feet; and that the Dakota formation was perforated at intervals between the depths of 5782 to 5830 feet; and that the Shinarump formation was notched at intervals between the depths of 7157 to 7199 feet; and that production tests indicate that said well is capable of producing from both the Dakota formation and the Shinarump formation.

5.      That all available geological and engineering data concerning said Government-Helmke Well No. 2 indicate that said well can be dually completed by perforating and notching at the above intervals, and proceeding in the manner presented by Applicant, with the zones isolated by a permanent type production packer, so that production from either or both of said formations will be produced independently and without commingling prior to delivery at the well-head.

6.      That the granting of Applicant's request, and the completion and production of said well in the manner hereinabove set forth, will not result in waste, and that no damage will result to either formation because of such dual zone completion.

ORDER

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, that Texaco, Inc. is hereby granted permission and authority to dually complete its Government-Helmke Well No. 2, located in the SEĽNEĽ of Section 18, Township 5 North, Range 91 West, 6th P.M., in the Williams Fork Field, Moffat County, Colorado, with oil to be produced from the Dakota formation from perforations at intervals between the depths of 5782 to 5830 feet, and from the Shinarump formation from notches at intervals between the depths of 7157 to 7199 feet, and the zones isolated by a permanent type production packer, so that production from either or both of said formations will be produced independently and without commingling prior to delivery at the well-head.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the Commission expressly reserves its right, after notice and hearing, to alter, amend or repeal any and/or all of the above order.

ORDERED this 21st day of May 1963.
