CAUSE NO. 153

ORDER NO. 153-2

REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on April 16, 1963, at 10 a.m., in Room 132, State Services Building, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of Hearing as required by law, and mailing of copies of the application pursuant to the regulations of this Commission, on the application of Texaco, Inc., for an order authorizing Applicant to inject water into the Sundance (Entrada) formation of the Danforth Hills Field, through the Texaco Gov't.-Treleaven Well No. 3, in order to utilize a more receptive and susceptible sand for disposal, and for the purpose of increasing oil production in the Sundance sand.

FINDINGS

The Commission finds as follows:

1.      That due notice of the time, place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law.

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

3.      That the Commission issued its Order No. 153-1, dated June 20, 1961, which approved a project for the injection of water into the Morrison formation of the Danforth Hills Field through the Texaco Gov't.-Treleaven Well No. 3.

4.      That geological and engineering data presented at the hearing indicate that the Morrison formation in said Gov’t.-Treleaven No. 3 well will not take water and is unsatisfactory for injection purposes; and that injection of produced water into the Sundance (Entrada) formation will utilize a more receptive and susceptible sand for disposal, and increase oil production in the producing Sundance sand.

5.      That Applicant should therefore be given authority to inject water into said Sundance (Entrada) formation in the Texaco Gov’t.-Treleaven Well No. 3, located in the NE¼SW¼ of Section 32, Township 5 North, Range 95 West, 6th P.M., Moffat County, Colorado.

ORDER

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, that Texaco, Inc. is hereby granted permission and authority to inject water into the Sundance (Entrada) formation in the Texaco Gov’t.-Treleaven Well No. 3, located in the NE¼SW¼ of Section 32, Township 5 North, Range 95 West, 6th P.M., in the Danforth Hills Field, Moffat County, Colorado, in such quantities as shall be reasonably determined by Applicant to best achieve the maximum recovery of oil without waste.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Commission expressly reserves its right, after notice and hearing, to alter, amend or repeal the above order.

ORDERED this 16th day of April 1963.
