REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on June 29, 1960, at 10:00 A.M., in Room 227, State Services Building, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of Hearing as required by law, on the application of the Claude Wentworth Drilling Co, Inc., an Oklahoma corporation duly authorized and qualified to do business in the State of Colorado, for an order establishing two drilling and spacing units for the production of gas from the "D" and "J" sand formations underlying certain lands in Weld County, Colorado.

FINDINGS

The Commission finds as follows:

1.      That due notice of the time, place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law.

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

3.      That the "D" and "J" sand formations constitute common sources of supply of gas underlying the following described lands in Weld County, Colorado, to-wit:

Township 11 North, Range 56 West, 6th P.M.

Section 19:

SE¼ NE¼, SE¼

Section 20:

S½NW¼, SW¼, W½SE¼, SE¼SE¼

Section 29:

Section 30:

NE¼

and such area is referred to as the Mantle Field.

4.      That in order to prevent waste of oil and gas, as defined in the Oil and Gas Conservation Act, and to prevent the drilling of unnecessary wells, an order should be made establishing two drilling and spacing units for the production of gas from the "D" and "J" sands, common sources of supply underlying said land, as defined herein, and that said units should be defined as follows:

UNIT NO. 1 -

560 acres comprised of the SE¼ NE¼ and SE¼ of Section 19; SW¼NW¼ and W½SW¼ of Section 20; W½NW¼ of Section 29, and NE¼ of Section 30, Township 11 North, Range 56 West of the 6th P.M.

UNIT NO. 2 -

480 acres comprised of the SE¼ NW¼, E½SW¼, W½SE¼, SE¼ SE¼ of Section 20, and E½NW¼ and NE¼ of Section 29, Township 11 North, Range 56 West of the 6th P.M.;

and that the permitted gas well for Unit No. 1 should be the Wentworth No. 1 McEndaffer well located in the NW¼SW¼ of Section 20, Township 11 North, Range 56 West; and that the permitted gas well for Unit No. 2 should be located in the NW¼SW¼SE¼ of Section 20, Township 11 North, Range 56 West of the 6th P.M. Weld County, Colorado.

5.      That all available geological and engineering data concerning said "D" sand in said Mantle Field indicate that one well should efficiently and economically drain as to gas, each of the separate areas described in Finding 4 above as Unit No. 1 and Unit No. 2; and that each such area, respectively is not smaller than the maximum area that can be efficiently and economically drained by one well completed as a gas well in the "D" sand formation underlying such unit.

6.      That all available geological and engineering data concerning said "J" sand in said Mantle Field indicate that one well should efficiently and economically drain as to gas, each of the separate areas described in Finding 4 above as Unit No. 1 and Unit No. 2; and that each such area, respectively, is not smaller than the maximum area that can be efficiently and economically drained by one well completed as a gas well in the "J" sand formation underlying suck unit.

ORDER

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, that the following rules and regulations shall apply hereafter to a well drilled, completed or recompleted in the "D" or "J" sand formations underlying the Mantle Field, herein defined, in addition to other applicable rules and regulations and orders of the Commission, if any, heretofore adopted and not in conflict herewith:
