CAUSE NO. 121

ORDER NO. 121-4

REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on September 19, 1967, at 10 a.m., in Room 132, State Services Building, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of Hearing as required by law, and mailing of copies of the application pursuant to regulations of the Commission, on the application of Chevron Oil Company for an order permitting Applicant to convert the UPRR Well #12 to an additional injection well for the Lyons Sand underlying the Black Hollow Unit Area.

FINDINGS

The Commission finds as follows:

1.      That due notice of the time, place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law.

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

3.      That on July 22, 1958, the Commission issued its Order No. 121-1 which, among other things, approved a Unit Agreement and waterflood for the Lyons Sand of the Black Hollow field; and that, subsequently, Order No. 121-2 and Order No. 121-3 authorized the use of additional injection wells for the Black Hollow Unit Area.

4.      That secondary recovery operations in the Black Hollow Unit Area should be continued to completion in order to minimize waste of oil and gas in the field, and that conversion of the UPRR Well #12, located in the SEĽNEĽ of Section 1, Township 7 North, Range 67 West, 6th P.M., Weld County, Colorado, to an additional injection well for the Lyons Sand underlying said Black Hollow Unit Area, is essential for such purposes.

5.      That according to geological and engineering information available, injection of water into said UPRR Well #12 will not adversely affect the correlative rights of any owner outside of said Black Hollow Unit Area.

6.      That the use and operation of said well as a water injection well will increase the ultimate recovery of oil and gas from the Lyons Sand pool of the Black Hollow Field, and should therefore be approved as being in the public interest for conservation.

ORDER

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, that the Unit Operator of the Black Hollow Unit Area is hereby permitted and authorized to convert to a water injection well the UPRR Well #12, located in the SEĽNEĽ of Section 1, Township 7 North, Range 67 West, 6th P.M., Weld County, Colorado, for the purpose of injecting water into the Lyons Sand underlying the Black Hollow Unit Area.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that in the event it becomes necessary in the future to convert additional producing wells to input wells; to plug and abandon certain wells in the Black Hollow Unit Area, or to drill additional producing or input wells, as dictated by developments in the course of the operation of the waterflood, the Unit Operator is authorized to make such changes in the operation of the project as may be required to facilitate the efficient development thereof, subject to the approval of the Director.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the provisions of this Order shall become effective forthwith.

ORDERED this 19th day of September 1967.
