CAUSE NO. 110

ORDER NO. 110-5

REPORT OF THE COMMISSION

This cause came on for hearing before the Commission on January 18, 1966, at 10 a.m., in Room 132, State Services Building, Denver, Colorado, after publication of Notice of Hearing as required by law, on the application of Frank H. Walsh for an order providing an increase in the gas allowable from the "D'" sand of the Elm Grove Field, Logan County, Colorado.

FINDINGS

The Commission finds as follows:

1.      That due notice of the time, place and purpose of the hearing has been given in all respects as required by law.

2.      That the Commission has jurisdiction over the subject matter embraced in said Notice, and of the parties interested therein, and jurisdiction to promulgate the hereinafter prescribed order.

3.      That gas production from the "D" Sand reservoir of the Elm Grove Field, in accordance with the flexibility provided in Order No. 110-2, has resulted in erratic reservoir performance and subsequent inability to accurately determine any migration of the gas-oil contact.

4.      That an increase to a daily allowable production of 300,000 cubic feet of gas for gas wells should not be harmful to said "D" Sand reservoir, and should allow continued operation of gas wells for at least a limited period of time.

5.      That in order to evaluate reservoir performance, said daily gas allowable should be produced in such a manner that no gas well will be produced at a rate exceeding its daily allowable by more than twenty-five percent (25%) and that the allowable production may be exceeded for any one month by not in excess of five (5) days' allowable production; and that underproduction of gas, not to exceed five (5) days' allowable during any one month, should be made up only during the month immediately following; and that any overproduction of gas should be made up during the month immediately following.

6.      That the Commission should consider calling this matter to hearing again after approximately five months to consider reservoir conditions resulting from the increased gas allowable.

7.      That gas-oil ratio tests should be taken when requested by the Director.

ORDER

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, that Order No. 110-2, subsequently amended by Order No. 110-3, is hereby amended, and the following rules and regulations shall hereafter apply to the "D" sand reservoir of the Elm Grove Field, Logan County, Colorado:

Rule 1.    The daily allowed gas production from each well shall be 300, 000 [sic] cubic feet for gas wells, said allowable to be produced in such a manner that no gas well will be produced at a rate exceeding its daily allowable by more than twenty-five per cent (25%), with the allowable production for any one month not to exceed five (5) days' allowable production.

a.

Underproduction of gas shall not exceed five (5) days' allowable during any one month, and may be made up only during the month immediately following.

b.

Overproduction of gas shall be made up during the month immediately following.

Rule 2.    Operators and owners of wells producing from the "D" sand reservoir of the Elm Grove Field shall make gas-oil ratio tests when requested to do so by the Director.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the rules and regulations contained herein shall become effective February 1, 1966.

ORDERED this 25th day of January 1966.
