IN THE MATTER OF THE APPLICATION OF  WEXPRO COMPANY, ON BEHALF OF QUESTAR EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION COMPANY FOR AN ORDER FROM THE COMMISSION ALLOWING ADDITIONAL WELLS TO BE DRILLED IN EXISTING DRILLING UNITS FOR THE WASATCH, FORT UNION, LANCE, LEWIS AND MESAVERDE FORMATIONS UNDERLYING CERTAIN LANDS WITHIN THE HIAWATHA WEST FIELD AREA, MOFFAT COUNTY, COLORADO

CAUSE NO. ________________

DOCKET NO. _______________

APPLICATION

COMES NOW Wexpro Company, the designated operator, on behalf of Questar Exploration and Production Company, ("Applicant"), by its attorneys, Gorsuch Kirgis LLP, and makes application to the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission of the State of Colorado for an order allowing additional wells to be drilled in existing 320-acre drilling units established for the Wasatch, Fort Union/Lance/Lewis and Mesaverde Formations in the Hiawatha West Field area.  In support of its application, Applicant states and alleges as follows:

1.                  That Applicant is a corporation duly authorized to conduct business in the State of Colorado.

2.                  That Questar owns all of the leasehold interest in the following described lands:

Township 12 North, Range 100 West

Section 30: All

Township 12 North, Range 101 West

Section 25: All

(hereinafter "Application Lands")

3.                  That such lands are subject to the Commission's Order No. 133-1 which established 320-acre drilling units for the Wasatch, Fort Union/Lance/Lewis and Mesaverde Formations covering the Application Lands designated as follows:

N/2 of Section 30, T12 N, R100W

S/2 of Section 30, T12N, R100W

N/2 of Section 25, T12N, R101W

S/2 of Section 25, T12N, R101W

4.                  That as to each of such units, Applicant has drilled the maximum number of wells authorized to be drilled and produced from the Wasatch, Fort Union/Lance/Lewis and Mesa Verde Formations.

5.                  That Applicant has determined, based upon geological and well data, that the maximum number of wells allowed to be drilled on each of these units will not drain the gas and associated hydrocarbons from the described formations underlying each unit.

6.                  That to promote efficient drainage within the described formations within each of the above described drilling units, the Commission should allow up to five (5) wells to be drilled into and produced from the Wasatch, Fort Union/Lance/Lewis and/or Mesaverde Formations within each of the described 320-acre drilling and spacing units.

7.                  That allowing up to five (5) wells in each of these 320-acre drilling and spacing units to produce from these formations or any of them will allow more efficient drainage of these formations; will not promote waste; will not violate correlative rights and will assure the greatest ultimate recovery of gas and associated hydrocarbons from the reservoir(s).

8.                  That for each of the described 320 acre drilling and spacing units, the minimum setbacks from the common boundaries to the other described drilling and spacing units should be eliminated as Questar owns all of the working interest in all four drilling and spacing units.  See Exhibit "A" attached which indicates in yellow the areas in respect of which minimum setbacks would be eliminated.

9.                  That the names and addresses of the interested parties to this Application are set forth in Exhibit “B” attached hereto and made a part hereof.

10.              That both the mineral estate and the surface estate of the Application Lands are owned by the United States of America.

WHEREFORE, Applicant respectfully requests that this matter be set for hearing in April 2003, that notice be given as required by law and that upon such hearing this Commission enter its order consistent with Applicant's requests as set forth above.

Dated:  March _____, 2003.
