Prior to December 15, 2005, the wells were spotted using the COGCC Well Information Spotting Program (WISP). Footage calls from section boundaries or quarter quarter section centers were read into the WISP application and the wells were spotted on AutoCAD Map drawings. Latitude / longitude values were then calculated from the drawings and returned to the COGCC database. After December 15, 2005 latitude and longitude values from field surveying and/or GPS operations are entered directly to the COGIS database.
Well locations are read from the database and displayed over the Internet in COGCC's Autodesk MapGuide Application, GIS Online. ESRI Arcview 9x software is then utilized to connect to the database and create SHP files for download. This process is performed on a daily basis.
